Edeal (Eastbourne District Enterprise Agency) is an independent enterprise agency, established in 1983, which offers quality business support to develop the success of start up and young businesses.

Blindspot I.D were appointed by Edeal to redesign the interior entrance of the Eastbourne site, which was looking very tired and in some need of major design input. The previous entrance was awash with dated looking timber and featured an oppressive ceiling grid with ineffective bulky light fittings. The promotion of Edeal’s services, signage and graphics were poorly communicated and confusing to the visitor.

The design brief given to Amanda and Paul was to transform this un-staffed space into a welcoming entrance, which would clearly communicate Edeal as a forward thinking business support service and to brand the space using Edeal’s identifiable colours and graphics. It was also necessary to take into account the presence of the other tenants operating their companies from within Edeal’s offices.

The redesigned entrance is bright and fresh with a creative lighting scheme that draws you into the space. Vivid coloured panels adorn the walls with soft accent lighting, company graphics and literature displays. The new plasterboard ceiling allows the installation of recessed lighting and accentuates the modern clean lines of the interior. Curves have been subtly introduced to the scheme by way of shapes in the carpet, new tub chairs and a contemporary glass topped circular table. The installation of a clearly signed phone station ‘pod’ encourages visitors to call office staff on the upper level upon arrival, and discreet storage has been tucked away behind a built in silver sliding tambour door, this houses a pc with internet access and a serves as an easily accessible location for services.
