The double shower introduces the element of fun and decadence, creating a ‘wet room' environment by using inset grooved ceramic ‘duckboards' that are set flush within the finished floor level (tiled). The showering area can be fully or semi enclosed by the sliding green tint glass screens, and bottle storage has been provided by recessed ‘cut outs' next to each of the showers.

A full height glazed division separates the showering area from the adjoining bedroom, most of which is heavily obscured glass (to protect ‘most' of your modesty!). The top section of this glass however is transparent to give an effect that the glazed division has been stopped short and left totally open at the top. This ensures maximum borrowed light from the bedroom. The tiled ‘slate effect' wall finish to the rear W.C wall continues along the bedroom wall, which is viewed as a continuous wall finish due to the high level clear glass ‘opening'. This feature links the two rooms together and introduces some interesting architectural angles.

Plenty of storage has been accommodated in the scheme, namely the tall bespoke storage cupboard, made out of Italian walnut – which gives us the flat mid brown colour that was required to offset against the fairly vibrant colour scheme.

The colour scheme is a soft neutral base wall colour with mosaic tiles in soft tones of yellows and blues. The wall above the double basin has been painted a dusty red to offset against the timber and obscured glass, this works as a fantastic backdrop for the blue feature lighting. We have opted for the dark ‘slate-like' ceramic floor/rear wall tiles to gel the colour scheme and finishes together.

The lighting in the scheme comprises of overhead recessed low voltage lighting, alongside rectangular panelled diffused lighting above the shower. Accent lighting is provided by the coloured mirror lighting and delicate circular low- level wall spots, which wash across the floor. The accent lighting can be switched on and off, separately to the main lighting, as required.

Shower anyone?

In progress - En-suite, London.

Blindspot were appointed design a swanky en-suite shower room, which should showcase our own contemporary design preferences.

We have created a stylish, sexy and fun environment that will not date too quickly, it has 2 functions – ‘quick daily' use and for use as a ‘slow and pampering' retreat. There are 2 inter-connecting ‘zones' to house the facilities, which are separated only by a change in floor level. Bulbous sanitaryware has been used throughout, where the exaggerated curves of the double basin and w.c pan contrast with the hard angles elsewhere in the scheme.

A horizontal strip mirror, with discreet coloured diffused lighting behind, has been placed above the double basin and along the left side, which has been set away from the wall to allow the light to softly glow along the top and bottom of the mirror. This feature allows the lighting to play a focal point to any number of the mood enhancing light settings in the scheme, giving a ‘hotel-style' level of ambience, as well as some interesting and funky reflections! A bespoke single-tube heated towel rail runs adjacent to the sink, along the entire length of the wall.
